Famous Names

Have you ever seen the movie "Office Space"? Except for the fact that I actually *like* the music of the Dave Matthews Band, I can identify a lot with the Michael Bolton character in that movie. Although I do play guitar, I am *not* the famous singer/songwriter/guitar player. And I really don't mean to demean your capacity to identify coincidences, but if we meet and you notice the coincidence in names, a simple knowing smile is sufficient - it's already been pointed out to me.

Anyway, here begins my adventure in blogging. We have a new baby on the way and I thought this would be a good way for friends and family dispersed around the continent to keep tabs on "Lucky". That, of course, will depend on my ability to stay awake long enough to periodically post. Considering the ominous rapid decline in posting rate of a fellow prenatal classmate's postings, I begin with the best of intentions and hope for the best. If it degenerates, then tails off completely, you can guess what happened. I'll write again in 20 years.

"Lucky", as our son has been dubbed in utero, is a moniker that will undoubtedly survive far longer than we intended. It could be worse I suppose. It stems from the same reason that led my brother's first breeding effort to become known in utero as "Honda" ("First try every time"). It could be considered a misnomer by those who readily anticipated the practicing part (i.e. 'me') but given the struggles some go through in the Quest For Offspring, we are truly "Lucky".

So as we continue in our struggle to come up with a real name for Lucky, the only thing we know for sure is that it won't be Michael Bolton. Perhaps Milton? Stay tuned...
